The girls took the top five spots and seventh out of eight
in the weight throw competition.
Leading the pack was junior Lauren Chambers with a monstrous
throw of 58’10 ½”.
“ I feel really good, I had a
personal best (beat her previous record) by 3 inches, so I feel good.”
Her teammate Patrice Gates placed second and broke the
national sophomore record of 53’11”, with a throw of 54’0-1/8”.
“ It feels really good, I have been
trying to break that record for awhile now, and it was an indoor personal best
for me.”
Allison Horner, an outstanding hammer thrower for Throw1Deep
and hopeful world junior team member, claimed third with a throw of 52’10”.
The Throw1Deep boys also dominated the weight throw
competition. Wesley Wright destroyed the field with a tremendous throw of
77’3’’. This is Wright’s second straight Simplot win.
“It wasn’t my best throw, but it still feels good to win.
Especially two years in a row.”
Freshman sensation Andrew Dunkleberger, also showcased
his skills taking an impressive second place with a new personal record of 59’.
Back in 2003, Dunkleberger’s older brother Jake took
third place in the weight throw as senior.
Throw1Deep coach Mike Judge was very impressed with his team
and their sweep of the weight throw competition.
