Pocatello, Idaho – Several of Utah’s top high school athletes are ready to compete at Simplot Games, the nation’s premier high school track and field event, in Pocatello, Idaho, February 14-16. Simplot Games brings together some of the top high school athletes in the country for a weekend of intense competition and fun.
This year’s top athletes representing Utah include:
The twin sisters have dominated the Utah state track in distances from 60- to 800 meters. Nachelle has already won nine state outdoor championships and recently won the state indoor 800 meter title. Natalie has claimed six state outdoor titles, plus the 60- and 400-meter indoor championships. Natalie and Nachelle have also placed second in several events, behind each other. The Stewarts will compete in sprints and relays.
The
returning Simplot Games 1600-meter champ set the Games record (4:13.62) in
2007. He has won Utah state 3A championships in cross country (2007), 1600
meters (2006, 2007) and 3200 meters (2006, 2007). Luke won the Boston Indoor
Mile in January at 4:08.77, and finished fifth at the 2007 Foot Locker
Nationals.

Candace
won the Utah state 5A championships in the 1600 meters (2006, 2007) and 3200
meters (2006, 2007). She placed fifth in the Utah state 5A cross country
championships. She was the 2007 Simplot Games runner-up in the 1600 meters with
a time of 4:58.77.
