Top Nevada high school athletes set to compete at Simplot Games

Pocatello, Idaho – Several of Nevada’s top high school athletes are ready to compete at Simplot Games, the nation’s premier high school track and field event, in Pocatello, Idaho, February 14-16. Simplot Games brings together some of the top high school athletes in the country for a weekend of intense competition and fun.

 

This year’s top athletes representing Nevada include:

§         Bryan Tibaduiza, of Reno, 3200-meter run

Named the Gatorade Nevada State runner of 2007/2008, Nevada State champion in the State cross country meet, his seeded time of 9:20 would have beat the winner of the 2007 Simplot Games by over twenty seconds.

 

§         Kyle Mills, Pahrump, triple jump and long jump

Holds the triple jump records for the Las Vegas Track Classic and the Southern Nevada 4A regional championships. His seeded mark of 46’4” will place him in the top of the competition.

 

§         Michael and Kevin Kahan, Reno, 4x200-meter relay and 400-meter dash

These senior brothers have made all league track and football teams. Their seeded marks of 49.73 (Michael) and 49.74 (Kevin), and their 4x200 time of 1:30, will make them major contenders at this year’s Simplot Games.

 

§         Casey Gray, Reno, Pole Vault

The junior is seeded at 11’02”. This mark will place her in the upper end of the competition and will make her a major contender to medal.
