Several of Colorado’s top high school athletes are ready to compete at Simplot
Games, the nation’s premier high school track and field event, in Pocatello,
Idaho, February 14-16. Simplot Games brings together some of the top high school
athletes in the country for a weekend of intense competition and fun.
This year’s top athletes representing Colorado include:
§
Ken
Harriman, Shot Put
(Pueblo)
4A runner
up as a freshmen in 2006, State 4A champion as a sophomore 2007, placed 5th
at the Simplot Games 2007, and
metro league all guard in football 2007. Current best 56’08”.
§
Kam
Rucker, 60 meter dash
(Pueblo)
Seeded at
6.8, last year at the Simplot Games the winner ran a 6.82 and second place was 7.12. Kam could be a major contender for
the gold medal in the 60 meter dash. Kam is a senior.
§
Chaz
Bryan, 200 meter dash
(Pueblo)
Seeded at
22.8, that mark would have placed him third in the 200 meter dash at the 2007 Simplot Games. Chaz is a senior.
§
Steve
Kasica, 800 meter run
(Fruita)
Steve was the 2007 Colorado State 5A champion at 800 meters.
His seed time of 1:54.63 would have placed him first at the 2007 Simplot Games.
Steve will be a major contender this year.
§
Liz
Johnson, Shot Put
(Fort Collins)
Liz was the
state 4A champion in the shot put and discus in 2007.
§
Joy
Warrington, Shot Put
(Widefield Track Club, Colorado
Springs)
Joy placed
third at the state 4A meet in 2007.
