Utah athletes finish strong at Simplot Games
18 athletes bring home medals
 
 
Pocatello , Idaho- Utah athletes fared well on the last day of the Simplot Games. Eighteen athletes finished in the top six, five relay teams finished in the top six, and one Utah athlete broke his own meet record.
 
Luke Puskedra led the way for Utah breaking his own 1600 meet record. Puskedra was one of six event winners. Other winners included:
·        Kaysville’s Natalie Haws, 3200 meters
·        Kaysville’s Candace Eddy, 1600 meters
·        Spanish Fork’s Natalie Stewart, 400 meters
·        Spanish Fork Track, girls’ 1600 sprint medley relay
·        Timpview Thunderbirds, boys’ 4x800 relay

More than 2,000 athletes came from across the U.S. and Canada to participate in the 30th annual Simplot Games. Simplot Games remains the nation’s premier high school indoor track and field event. Sponsored by the J.R. Simplot Company since 1979, the 2008 Simplot Games were held February 14-16; at Idaho State University ’s Holt Arena is Pocatello , Idaho .
